Hello I am Mikara Anderson your Central Pennsylvania’s 2018 Miss United States Agriculture!
I grew up on a small farm in Huntingdon County where I originally showed pleasure horses and goats. My path has changed and I currently raise 4 different flocks of sheep and market hogs. I have been a member of the Southern Huntingdon County FFA for the past 4 years where I am currently Vice President. I love competing in the FFA’s public speaking competitions, which has helped me gain valuable skills and promote agriculture. I have been a 4-H member for 9 years with the Southern Pride 4-H club where I am currently serving as Club President.
I am active in the agricultural community as a Huntingdon County Dairy Ambassador and the Pennsylvania Lamb and Wool Queen. I believe that as an agriculturalist, it is my duty to “agvocate.”
I am also very involved in school activities and clubs, but my favorite are National Honor Society, Science Olympiad, Daily News press Club, and cheerleading. I will be entering my junior year this fall in high school. After school I plan to attend Penn State University majoring in animal science with Spanish as a minor. I am so very excited to begin this year of promoting my passion, meeting new people, and the overwhelming opportunities that will come every queen’s way!
